Symptoms of Pubic Lice

Common Symptoms

  • Intense itching in the pubic area (worse at night)
  • Visible lice or eggs (nits) on pubic hair
  • Blue-grey spots on the skin (from lice bites)
  • Brown specks (lice droppings) on underwear
  • Irritation and inflammation from scratching

How is Pubic Lice Transmitted?

  • Close body contact, usually during sex
  • Sharing bedding or towels (less common)
  • Cannot be spread by casual contact or toilet seats
